Mama's Korean Restaurant
Mama's Restaurant is a Korean Restaurant located at 2630 E. 10th Street in the 10th and the Bypass shopping center in Bloomington. It has Korean style tabletop BBQ where you cook the food yourself or regular tables where they cook your food for you.
Mama's opened in 2003. Unlike other Asian restaurants such as The Great Wall or Domo, Mama's intention was to target just the Korean students at Indiana University.
Since not many other nationalities have experience with Korean food, it might be a good opportunity to try various Korean dishes. Many Americans believe that Korean food is very spicy, and while this is true of many dishes, it is not true of all of them. Mama has a special piece of cooking equipment called a charcoal fire system, which allows customers to cook their favorite food by themselves.
Trivia
- Before Mama's opened, there was another Korean restaurant in the same place owned by a different owned called Koreana. Although one of the employees claimed that Mama's Restaurant is completely seperate from Koreana, you can still find that their rice bowls have the Koreana logo on them. This could just mean that they bought some supplies from Koreana though.
