April 10th - First meeting of Monroe County Commissioners. County seat named Bloomington and ordered to be laid out and divided into lots.
May
June
- William Hardin opens Bloomington's first "store". It sells primarily whiskey.
- The first term of the Monroe Circuit Court is held at the home of Abner Blair by Hon. Thomas H. Blake, Judge, and Joseph Berry and Lewis Noel, Associate Judges. The first act of the court was to ascertain what damage would result by the erection of a mill and dam on the land or Robert Hamilton on Clear Creek.
- 22nd - County Board orders a barrel of whiskey to be made available at the first auctioning of Bloomington lots, and $14,000 is netted from the sale.
