- Located on the southeast corner of the courthouse square in Bloomington
- Funded in part by a bequest in the will of Williamson Martin Alexander
- Designed by George Washington Bunting, Jr. of Indianapolis
- Built by the Fifer Construction Company
- Dedicated July 4, 1928
- The statue at top of the pillar, carved by Graf & McIlveen, Architectural Sculptors and Carvers, was installed shortly after the dedication
