Bloomfield
From Bloomingpedia
Bloomfield is a small town southwest of Bloomington and is the county seat of Greene County. It is also part of the Bloomington Metropolitan Area. As of the 2000 census its population was 2,542, but that has declined to 2,289 with the 2020 census. Bloomfield was founded in 1824 after the original county seat, Burlington (near what is now Worthington) was found to have an unreliable water supply. The land for the town was donated to Greene County by Peter Cornelius Van Slyke.
