The Bloomington Bagel Company, which is often abbreviated BBC, is a restaurant that specializes in serving many flavors of bagels. There are three locations: the first is on Dunn Street, just north of Kirkwood Avenue; the second was opened around 2003 and is located in Regester Place, on the corner of Morton Street and 7th Street. The newest store was opened in 2008 and is located at 913 S. College Mall Road in The Shoppes.
Bloomington Bagel Company is Bloomington's FIRST on-site scratch bagel bakery. BBC Bagels are boiled and baked using only the highest quality ingredients, following scratch kosher recipes from NYC's historic Bagel Baker's Local #338!

Philanthropy and Community Outreach
The Bloomington Bagel Company is proud to support and sponsor local organizations such as the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Cardinal Stage Company, IU Auditorium, IU Recreation Sports. The BBC also sponsors events such as the Bloomington Pride Film Festival, Ride Your Bike to Work Day, Jill Behrman Run for the Endzone, and the Lotus Festival. Additionally, the BBC supports Team Zachary-a foundation devoted to lymphoma research.
All money accepted in the BBC "tip" jars is donated to a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
In 2006 a monthly event that is now referred to as T-BAGeLs was created to reach out the Bloomington's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The event is held after the store closes and bagels, schmear, coffee and soda is provided free of charge to those who attend. The event was created in response to the need to create a social atmosphere for the GLBT community that takes place outside of bars and away from alcohol. This event was also created to bridge the gap between Indiana University students and non-students.
Every couple of months a new local artists' work is displayed at the Dunn and Shoppes locations. Past artists have included Yelena Photography, Deborah Klein's Dimensional Illustrations, Sleeping Dog Studios, and metal and ceramic work from S.K. Quigley.
Miscellaneous Information
The BBC offers a wide selection of traditional food for Jewish holidays. Every Friday and Saturday fresh challah (plain, raisin or cranberry) can be purchased in large or small braids. Pre-ordering is recommended as they tend to sell quickly. Other foods include whitefish salad, macaroons, hamentashen, matzo ball soup and matzo for Passover.
Colorful sugar bombs are made into festive shapes for all holidays and can be specially ordered for any event. Some of the most popular cookies of the year are jersey shaped bombs in Little 500 team colors.
Bloomington Bagels have traveled around the world. The store has a large collection of photographs that show customers and their bagels on vacation; many of these photos have been preserved on store tables for all to see. Bringing in one of these photographs earns the customer a free dozen bagels of their choice.
Wooden nickels earn the bearer a free naked bagel or a 95 cent discount on their purchase. These wooden nickels can be earned by answering the daily trivia correctly (only at Morton and the Shoppes locations), at special events, and at some businesses (such as apartment complexes.)
