Bud's Sandwich Shop
Bud's Sandwich Shop was a small eatery located off Grimes Lane in south-central Bloomington. It was owned and operated by William "Bud" Pavey from 1966 to 2002, when it was razed to make room for area development. Prior to its destruction, the structure was located in what is now the parking lot of Sweet Grass. Locally famous for its breaded tenderloins, the eatery catered primarily to the factory workers at the RCA (later Thomson) plant, which was located nearby on South Rogers Street. The restaurant offered standard lunch fare with standing room only. When Thomson closed, business declined and Bud closed up and retired shortly after. Bud Pavey died on February 10, 2011 at age 70.
