City Building
From Bloomingpedia
The City Building was a two story building located on the northeast corner of the Monroe Court House grounds, built in 1883 by architect/builder Hiram J. Nichols. The ground floor was the home of the fire department and the second floor was office and meeting space for city officials. The building was considered by some to be unsafe and literally shaky.
The building was demolished some time after construction of the current courthouse began (it was not included in the contract for demolition of the old court house and the old library which stood on the court house grounds).
