E. C. "Billy" Hayes (b. 1884, d. 1943) was a well known track and cross country coach at Indiana University. IU named the track and field for him, Billy Hayes Track.
He was a 1999 inductee into the Monroe County Hall of Fame on which his plaque reads "Longtime IU coach who built the track and cross country programs into national prominence. Coached U.S. Olympic Team in 1936."
