Freecycle

Freecycle is a network of mailing lists devoted to the free exchange of items with other people in a local area. It is a form of recycling. The list for Bloomington covers the Bloomington/Bedford area and was started on July 19th, 2004. As of December 17th, 2006 has 2052 members and 14,433 posts. It is the 4th largest freecycle list in Indiana (out of 81), behind Evansville (2207), Ft. Wayne (2697) and Indianapolis (9294). List posts peak out each year in August, but the number of posts has grown each year.

People on the list offer items for free such as shoes, clothes, furniture, computers, electronics and all kinds of things. There are also posts for wanted items of all kinds as well.
