George G. Dunn
George Grundy Dunn (1812 - 1857) was a prominent landowner and Congressman in Bloomington. He owned much of the land east of the Indiana Memorial Union and donated the land of Dunn Cemetery.
Dunn was born on December 20, 1812 in Kentucky to Samuel and Elizabeth Dunn and came to Indiana with his family in 1823. He attended Indiana University but did not graduate; instead moving to Bedford and becoming a lawyer. A Whig, he was elected to Congress in 1847 and to the State Senate in 1851. In 1854 he was again elected to Congress, this time as a member of the Know-Nothing party.
Dunn married the former Julia Fell and they had at least two children, Moses Fell Dunn, and George Grundy Dunn, Jr.
