Grace Montgomery Showalter

Grace Montgomery Showalter (March 9, 1893 - July 23, 1972) was the first woman elected to the IU Foundation's board of directors, where she served for 23 years. She gifted Showalter Fountain to the university as well as providing much of the funding for Showalter House, the home of the IU Foundation. A native of Shelbyville, Indiana, she was married to Ralph W. Showalter (1885-1959), an executive and board member of the Eli Lilly Company.
