Hamid Maidi, owner of the Cafe et Crepe restaurant and coffeehouse, came to Bloomington from Minneapolis when he began to yearn for a smaller community where he could feel safer with his family. Algerian by birth, he was one of nine children and learned to cook from his mother. He met his wife, Tammy, in a Minneapolis coffeehouse, similar to Cafe et Crepe. They have two children. His brother also lives in Bloomington with his family.
