Hanna Lou Showers
Hanna Lou Showers (November 29, 1847 - April 13, 1916) was the wife of William Showers and an active community leader.
Born in Putnamville, she was the daughter of J. H. and Hanna (Waller) Hendrix, the youngest of nine children.
Mr. and Mrs. Showers were married in Putnamville, October 15, 1870, and immediately came to Bloomington. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
From 1907 to her death, she served as a member of the directing board of Bloomington Hospital. Mrs. Showers was prominent in charity, cemetery association, literary and social clubs of the city.
Her obituary, in the Bloomington Weekly Courier, reads in part: "The sympathy of the public will go out to Mr. Showers, Mrs. S. F. Teter, W. E. Showers, Mrs. J. M. Smith, husband and children, also Mrs. S. E. Parks, Hutchinson, Kan., Mrs. Fannie Waldron, Terre Haute, Mrs. Fannie Cooper, Putnamville, and George Hendrix, Indianapolis." These are presumably her children.
