Indianapolis
Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana and is the 16th largest city in the United States. It is located 60 miles north-east of Bloomington. Practically the only direct route to Indianapolis is via State Highway 37 to Martinsville, then you have the choice of continuing on 37 or following State Road 39 to State Highway 67 the rest of the way to Interstate 465 in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis is the most common place for people to go when they can't find what they need in Bloomington. Especially items like electronics. This started to change slightly however in the 1990s when Circuit City and later Best Buy opened stores in Bloomington. The Internet and online commerce helped alleviate availability issues as well.
