John Coomer

John Coomer was superintendent of Monroe County Community Schools in the late 90's. He started in 1995 after nine years as superintendent in Crawfordsville, where he was credited with guiding the community through a building project and a strategic planning process.
Coomer oversaw several major changes to the district in his tenure, including building a new middle school and overhauling Bloomington High School South at a cost of over $74 million. A new alternative school was also started.
In 2007, Coomer was arrested in Greenwood on charges of public indecency, of which he was later acquitted.
