K-Mart

K-Mart is a nation chain of retail stores that had two locations in Bloomington. K-Mart was started in the 1960s as Sebastian S. Kresge's (Famous for the S. S. Kresge chain of stores, which Bloomington also had one of) answer to the new discount store trend started by E.J Korvette on the east coast. It became one of the largest retail chains in America until Wal-Mart started competing with it.
Locations
Both K-Marts were located on 3rd Street, but were on opposite sides of town.
- West Side (Closed in April 2018): 3175 West 3rd Street
- East Side (Closed in 2016): 3216 East 3rd Street
