Leon Hinkle

Leon Hinkle (1922 - 2008) was the owner of Hinkle's Hamburgers until his retirement in 1989. One of three brothers in the Bloomington burger business, he was famous for his insistence that customers have his hamburgers his way or no way at all.
Mr. Hinkle was born June 1st, 1922, in Bloomington, the son of Charles Hinkle and Jesse Mae Hinkle. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and took part in the D-Day invasion of France during World War II.
His brothers included Max Hinkle and Winfred Hinkle. His wife was named Janet, and they had one son, Larry Hinkle. He passed away on June 20, 2008.
