Leonard Slatkin

Leonard Slatkin (September 1st, 1944) was part of the Jacobs School of Music, announced October 27th, 2006. Leonard Slatkin attended Indiana University for one semester in the 1962-1963 school year; he later went on to be the music director of the National Symphony Orchestra as well as the principal guest conductor for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London and the LA Philharmonic Orchestra. On October 7, 2007, he announced he would be leave IU to be the new music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
