LouBen Building

The LouBen Building at 110. North Walnut Street is a Beaux Arts building dating from 1928. Named for its owners, Lou Becovitz and Benjamin Becovitz, the building was originally the home of the LouBen Clothing Store. The architects for the building (referred to in the construction press as the Becovitz Building) were McGuire & Shook. It stood vacant for several years before developer Chris Smith renovated it in 2002, attempting to restore it to its original look. For his efforts, he won the 2005 Main Street Adaptive Use Award. It is currently the home of Opie Taylor's.
