Sarkes Tarzian

Sarkes Tarzian (b. 1900, d. October 1987) was an engineer, inventor and broadcaster. He was born in Armenia, immigrated with his family to Philadelphia in 1907. He later got a job at RCA in Bloomington where he stayed until his death.
In 1944, he founded Sarkes Tarzian, Inc, a manufacturing and broadcasting company.
He published the Courier-Tribune newspaper from 1968 to 1973.
He is a 1977 member of the Monroe County Hall of Fame on which his plaque reads "Sarkes Tarzian, 1900 - Founder of Sarkes Tarzian Inc. 1944; Also founded WTTV, WTTS-AM and WGTC-FM; Prominent in republican politics; Bloomington civic leader."
