Sherwood Oaks Christian Church

Sherwood Oaks Christian Church is a megachurch located on the southeast side. Founded in 1962 by minister Herb Lenz as the "Second Christian Church" and soon renamed as the "Walnut Street Christian Church". The church relocated to Winslow Road in December of 1973 and was renamed Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. Tom Ellsworth, the church's seventh, and current, minister has served since 1981. Under his guidance weekly attendance has grown from 80 to 2,800.
