Staats Family

History
The Staats family maintained a farm on Bloomington's east side until the early 1950s. At this time the family decided to sell of parcels of land to a real estate developer who was planning to build single family housing on the land just off of state road 45, later to be known as 10th Street. The first houses were built around 1953 and construction continued on through the early 1970s, thus creating the Grandview Hills neighborhood. The latest house built in the neighborhood was raised in early 2004.
Some members of the Staats family still live in or near the neighborhood that bears a street named after them, Staats Drive.
