T.J. Clark
The Reverend T.J. Clark (1846 - 1918]] was an early Bloomington native. Although born in Knox County, his parents moved to Monroe County before Clark was a month old. In 1859 he began learning the cabinet trade along with William Showers, in an old shop where the Combs Store later stood on the east side of The Square. He enlisted in Company I, 10th Cavalry during the Civil War, and returned to Bloomington after the war, graduating from Indiana University in 1872.
Rev. Clark then became the pastor of the First Christian Church in Vincennes, but returned to Bloomington in 1894 to become the pastor of the Kirkwood Avenue Christian Church in 1894. From 1908 to 1918 he pastored at a church in Albion, IL before returning home to Bloomington.
Rev. Clark married the former Emma Jennings and they had at least five children: Carrie Gerhart, Grace Fisher, Ruth Neff, Thomas Curtis Clark, and Charles Clark.
