I'm not sure about other unicies, but on Linux this statement is not true: "This is not of critical concern, however, since system logs (and other underlying system processes) are recorded in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), then converted for user viewing by consulting the tzdata file.". Timestamps by syslog are recorded in your local timezone. And they are not stored as the unix epoch time normally. So I'm going to reword this. -- Mark 23:41, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
