Talk:Internet IP Subnets

From Bloomingpedia

134.68.0.0/16

Doesn't IU have 134.68.0.0 ? Or is that considered IUPUI? (Sorry, been a while..) Jkonrath 19:08, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

134.68.0/8 is indeed IUPUI. Chris 22:49, 26 May 2006 (EDT)
Well, I know a thing or two about this. *grin* Officially IU and IUPUI are one network now, under AS87. They used to be separate, but they're run as a single network thats multihomed in Bloomington and Indy. So, even though the ARIN designation may show 134.68.0.0 as beloning to IUPUI, it's IU-proper. Just don't ask what VLAN 666 is used for. :-) -Chrobb 23:01, 26 May 2006 (EDT)
I was hoping you'd chime in. I think I got all of the Class C subnets listed out, please correct any mistakes on my part. Chris 23:08, 26 May 2006 (EDT)
Hmmm. IU doesn't have an class C's that I'm aware of. Maybe you're referring to some of the other networks in the article? I looked at the Kiva ones and I'd be surprised if they allocated discontinguous /24s with a single /24 gap between them. I suppose I could login to the campus routers and see what they're getting from the exchange point. That would be a good list of local peer IPs. I'll try and do that later today. -Chrobb 08:35, 27 May 2006 (EDT)
Three network guys get in an article discussion about subnets........ If you're refering to the 206.97.64.0/?? that I put in the old blocks, I put the ?? there because I'm not sure how big it was. It was definately bigger than a /24 and I think it may have been a /20. Jay Nakamura would probably remember. I think that's the original block that Intersource had. You're right though, I don't think Kiva has any individual class Cs, they do swip class Cs and other subnets to their customers though, that's why you can find out that the 216.9.132.128/26 is subdelegated to Suso. I have another block too, but that was created later and it looks like they didn't swip that one. Hmmm -- Mark 09:09, 27 May 2006 (EDT)
Wow, I guess they have more than 3 class Bs. Had no idea they had 13 of them. That's also cool that IU's AS number is so low. I guess its not too surprising since it is a university, but still, AS numbers are up to like 40,000 now. But of course, playing this game we'd never live down that Purdue's number is 17. Kiva's (INTERSOURCE) number is 4279. Hoosier Net is 5689. (Ref.) -- Mark 23:44, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Now that Insight is no more, anyone know much about Comcast's IPs? I know I am currently on 98.223.184--Jmz668 14:56, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
