Todd Leary
Todd Leary was a basketball player and radio color commentator for the IU Men's Basketball team. He played on the team from 1989 through 1994, racking up 77 three-point field goals and being named captain as a senior. He ended with a three-point field goal percentage of .423.
As a player, Leary was famous for his almost-heroics in the 1992 Final Four semifinal game against Duke, where, with Indiana down by 10 with less than two minutes left, he hit three three-pointers, giving the team a chance at tying the game with a final three-pointer.
In 2001 Leary began color commentary with longtime radio announcer Don Fischer, a spot he continued to fill until 2009. Noted for his lack of tact and open cheerleading for the Hoosiers, Leary was forced to apologize in 2003 for making an insulting remark towards Purdue coach Gene Keady.
Leary, who also holds a license as a commercial real estate agent, was arrested in 2009 on multiple felony charges in connection with title insurance company called Mortgage Links in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. According to the charges, Leary had stolen money from Legends Title in Indianapolis, and had blackmailed the owner of Mortgage Links to get money to repay Legends. He eventually pled guilty to misappropriation of escrow funds and spent a year in prison.
Leary is married and currently lives in Carmel.
