User talk:Jess

From Bloomingpedia

Welcome to Bloomingpedia. Its interesting to me that you are from Bloomington and are now working in Davis, California, which also has one of the first City Wikis. Did you know about Davis Wiki? Sorry to intrude, I just think its an interesting coincidence. Also, I think it would be better if you moved the description of yourself as a person to a page called by your first name and last name. The user pages themselves are more for what each user does on Bloomingpedia. -- Mark 06:02, 7 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Taking Off!

Jess, good to see you taking off with adding to articles. :) Chris Eller 20:45, 17 August 2006 (EDT)

User comment boxes

Glad to see you back again. Regarding your question about user comment boxes. I'm not exactly sure what you mean. There are "talk" pages for each article that you can use just by clicking on the "discussion" tab at the top of the article. But I imagine that you are meaning that you want to be able to post comments, reviews and experiences. If so, we've talked about doing that in the form of an "experiences" page that has what people would call their experiences related to the subject of the article. We haven't done it yet because initially when we tried to do it, we only created a new section and that didn't really tie into the article right. The aim of such a page would be more to get people's stories about a place than their opinions. For instance instead of saying something like "The food at Samira is really great", people could post stories like "The first time I went to Samira, they were quite simple and played the same music over and over, now they have remodeled a bit and have more music." So it would be more like an anecdotes page. Which I think would be more interesting for other people to read. If you have any ideas related to this concept and how you would like to see it implemented, please share them. I've been to DavisWiki a bit and noticed that they have a different concept of "commentary on articles". -- Mark 21:59, 17 August 2006 (EDT)
