Varsity Pharmacy
The Varsity Pharmacy was located at 110 S. Indiana Avenue, just across the alley from the original Book Nook (the building where Hoagy Carmichael wrote Stardust). In addition to filling prescriptions and selling typical drug store sundries, the pharmacy offered a full-service soda fountain. In a separate room at the rear (west end) of the pharmacy was the Varsity Barber Shop.
When the pharmacy closed in the early 1970s, the building became The White Rabbit, one of the first copy shops in Bloomington, as well as a source of greeting cards, counter-culture books, posters and novelty items directed toward college students.
The building now houses a Starbucks coffee shop. The Chicago firm of Lowe & Bollenbacher designed the building.
