Wade Steffey
Wade Steffey (June 10, 1987 - January 13, 2007) was a 2006 graduate of Bloomington High School South. A recipient of many awards and scholarships, he chose to go to Purdue University on a full academic scholarship. While attending a fraternity party there, he attempted to enter a building by an unlocked door. Unknown to him, the room housed high voltage current machinery, and Wade was killed when he accidentally brushed against a live circuit. For more than two months, his friends and family searched for him until his body was finally discovered on March 19, 2007.
In addition to his many academic awards, Wade was an Eagle Scout and a member of the BHSS cross-country team, and earned a black belt in Tae Kwan Do from Monroe County Martial Arts.
