- Pleasant Williams opens a dry goods store on the west corner of The Square, in a room previously occupied by E.E. Sluss. His wife also ran a millinery on the premises. Also, Helton & Dodds renamed the store to A. Helton & Son, and moved their dry goods store to the northeast corner.
