- 19th - Singer Bobby Helms dies
- 29th - Indiana University students Trent Mowery and Jonathan Glasgal are killed in a motorcycle accident on the Lake Monroe causeway. Mowery was racing his motorcycle at over 100 MPH when he hit Glasgal, who was standing in the road.
