Andrew Stoeckley
Andrew Stoeckley (b. 1978) was a student at Indiana University and resident of Bloomington from 1995 through 2000. He is originally from Michigan, grew up in Oklahoma and is now living in New York City.
Stoeckley studied music composition, conducting, piano performance, and film studies at Indiana University from 1995 to 1999. Thereafter he moved to New York, NY and has worked in a variety of areas, including a commission from the Juilliard School for an electronic ballet score (2001).
His orchestral music has been performed and recorded by the World Youth Symphony Orchestra (1994) and the Indiana University Concert Orchestra (1998), and in 1995 he received an honoroable mention from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.
He has also studied film production and screenwriting at NYU. In 2004 he was selected among the Top 50 directors for Miramax's Project Greenlight contest, among nearly 2000 applicants. He was one of only 26 directors nationwide to have more than one short film selected for the finals. His short films have also appeared in numerous festivals, as well as the Tiburon Film Society.
He has the unique experience of having lived in Oklahoma City in 1995 during the Oklahoma City Federal building bombing as well as worked on the 17th floor of tower 2 of the World Trade Center in 2001. He happened to take the day off on September 11th, 2001.
While in Bloomington he also worked at Kiva Networking in the technical support department.
