Aquilla Rogers

Aquilla Rogers was a Monroe County sheriff and one of the earliest Europeans born in Bloomington.
The eighth son of Jonathan and Mary (Rand) Rogers, Aquilla Rogers was born on October 16, 1819, in Bloomington Township.
On April 2, 1840, he married his cousin, Mary E. Rogers, and they had seven children. They settled first near Salt Creek and then later in Perry Township.
In 1862 and 1864 he was elected Sheriff of Monroe County, and in 1868 he moved to the 144-acre farm later known as Rogers Farm.
