Auer Hall
Overview
Auer Hall is a concert hall at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. It is located inside the Simon Music Center. It includes an auditorium style seating and stage as well as a balcony and an organ. It has 400 seats including boxed seating and a high-beamed, coffered ceiling, with two side terraces. It was named after Ione B. Auer, who gave $1 million to fund its construction.
Of note is the fact that the organ has not yet been completed. The original organ contractor declared bankruptcy before completion of the Auer Hall organ, due around 1999. As organs of this size are handmade pieces of unique craftsmanship, no one else has been able to complete the instrument. The School of Music is in the process of reclaiming their funding from the builder.
