Benjamin F. Adams
Benjamin F. Adams, Sr. (January 2, 1827 - June 9, 1910) was a president of the Monroe County Oolitic Stone Company, as well as being school trustee and a member of the town board.
Adams was born near Stanford and lived most of his early life as a farmer, but moved into Bloomington in 1873, several years after his wife had died.
At that time he engaged in the stone business and was elected president of the Monroe County Oolitic stone company, one of the first companies in the Clear Creek belt. He served three terms as school trustee and was also trustee of the Mooresville college. A Methodist, he was instrumental in the construction of three different church buildings.
Adams married the former Harriett Jane Baker in 1855 and they had five children, including William Adams, Benjamin Adams, Jr., Mrs. J. K. Beck and Mrs. Rev. Telfer.
