Breshaun Joyner

A native of Los Angeles, California, Breshaun has been part of Bloomington’s theatre scene for nearly fourteen years. She served as the Education Director at the Bloomington Playwrights Project for seven years (2003 to 2010). Her teaching background in theatre includes Mini Play Camp director and directing sold-out youth productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night. She has taught Shakespeare courses in SODA as well as at the St. Charles Summer Institute in Bloomington, IN. She has also taught two sessions of Acting III in SODA and playwriting as part of the Discovering Third Street Park History Project with the Evergreen Institute. During the school year, she teaches playwriting at Templeton Elementary as part of the Family Playwriting Program. She also conducts playwriting workshops in the schools for students interested in submitting a play for the annual Mini Play competition. Breshaun has also supervised the After School Drama Clubs at Grandview, Highland Park, and Fairview elementary schools. Her long time work in the area of innovative and multicultural curriculum development has won her local recognition as well as national awards for outstanding programs. She was named Herald Times Theatre Person of the Year in 2004.
