Burns & James
Burns & James was an Indianapolis architectural firm composed of Lee Burns and Edward D. James. Oral histories available at the Indiana Historical Society indicate that even though it was Burns who initially developed contacts in Bloomington, James was responsible for all of the design work done there. In 1949 Burns suffered a heart attack in the offices of Burns & James and was wheeled out on a stretcher. Upon recovery he established Edward D. James & Associates and Lee Burns started the firm of Burns & Burns with his son.
