Harvey Phillips

Harvey Phillips (b. December 2, 1929 - died October 20, 2010) is a professor emeritus at Indiana University and considered one of the greatest tuba players ever. He has been refered to as “The Paganini of the Tuba” because of his virtuosity as a soloist. He is the only wind instrument player to have been inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame.
He is also known for starting several organizations and events to promote the tuba. One of them, Tuba Christmas has grown to worldwide popularity.
