January
- 7th - The Hook Drug Store on the west side of The Square is destroyed by fire. The building was owned by Madeline Wylie. A solid wall prevented the blaze from reaching the Eagle clothing store, although it sustained smoke damage. Other businesses that sustained damages included Kresge's, the dentist office of Dr. George McDaniel, the Peoples Insurance company, Miers & Coor. Henry A. Lee's law office, J. M. Sappenfield's insurance office, and a colored lodge. Total losses came to around $65,000.

- John Christy is shot to death on West 6th Street.

- 1st - The fire department is called out to a fire at a dump on 17th Street and Walnut Street.
August
A fire in the kitchen of the Wright Restaurant at 8th Street and Morton Street causes $350 in damage.
The Bloomington City Council announces plans for connecting north College Avenue to the Dixie Highway, by way of Lower Cascades Park.
September
- 29th - Charles Vanpelt, driving at high speed and on the wrong side of the road on what is now known as Old SR 37, about a mile north of Dolan, collides with a car driven by Marshall Campbell. Several passengers in Campbell's car are injured.
October
- 29th - Fire strikes a four-family house at 307 E. 6th Street, causing a great deal of damage. The house was owned by C. C. Smallwood of the Bloomington Wholesale Grocery Company. Nationally, this date marks the beginning of the Great Depression.
November
- 5th - The newly paved section of SR 37 between Bloomington and Bedford is opened to traffic. Drivers can now travel on paved roads from Indianapolis all the way to French Lick.
