Information Commons
Information Commons is a 24/7 computer lab that fills the entire first floor of the west tower of the Wells Library that has 350 workstations including group workstations. The computers are arranged in clusters, with 4 teaching areas that are used by various classes at IU. IU students can sign up to take STEPS classes for free. Two of the clusters are dubbed the Multimedia Center and feature additional multimedia software that is not found on other computers at IU such as Maya. The Multimedia Center also features special multimedia hardware for editing videos.
Information Commons is run by UITS and houses the Adaptive Technology Center (ATC) and UITS Support Center.
During the final weeks of the semester, you will find that nearly every computer is filled and people stand around to wait to be the first to run to an empty computer.
