J. R. McDaniel
J.R. "Bud" McDaniel (October 14, 1870 - October 17, 1944) was a Bloomington businessman and merchant for more than half a century.
Christened Jasper Riley McDaniel, McDaniel was born in West Virginia but moved with his family to Brown County. McDaniel and his wife, the former Dora Morse, came to Bloomington, and he engaged in carpentry for a time before opening first a grocery store, and then with a partnership in 1913, buying a furniture and undertaking business from S.L. Harrell. In 1924, McDaniel and Arthur Day split the two businesses with McDaniel taking the furniture business. He continued to run McDaniel Furniture until 1942.
McDaniel had one son, Major Glen McDaniel, for a time a Bloomington dentist.
