January
- 10th - Mrs. Lethia J. Buckley loses her life in a fire on the east side of The Square. She was the owner and tenant of the building, which also held the Family Shoe and Grand Leader stores. Damages were thought to be more than $40,000. A brick firewall and metal roofs kept the fire from spreading to the Logan Coombs store and Poolitsan Candy Kitchen. Mrs. Buckley's son later sold the building to Ben Becovitz of the Louben store, and he built the LouBen Building on the lot.

April
- The dry goods store of Guy A. McCown in Ellettsville is robbed. Thieves break the glass in the rear door of the store and make off with from $150 to $250 worth of clothing, notions, and other dry goods.
- Martin H. Myles buys the Wells Restaurant on East 3rd Street.
- Robinson Hitchcock opens an insurance office in the Henry & Kerr Building. Hitchcock moved to Bloomington from Winchester and specialized in automobile insurance and plate glass insurance.
