Kenny Aronoff
Kenny Aronoff (born March 7,1953) is an accomplished drummer and session musician, and a 1976 graduate of the Jacobs School of Music.
Aronoff spent time after college in New York and Boston, before returning to Bloomington in 1977, playing with a local rock band. In 1980, he joined John Mellencamp's band, recording ten albums and touring with him for almost two decades.
Starting in the 1980s, Aronoff became a prolific session musician. He has played or recorded with Rod Stewart, Avril Lavigne, Meat Loaf, John Fogerty, Tony Iommi and Melissa Etheridge. He has also performed live and toured worldwide with many artists including The Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Seger, Melissa Etheridge, John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson and Michelle Branch.
He is also an accomplished percussion instructor. From 1993 to 1997, he taught percussion at the Jacobs School of Music. He has also produced several instruction books, tapes, and DVDs.
