Lemuel Moss

Lemuel Moss (b. December 27, 1829, d. July 12, 1904) was the sixth president of Indiana University. He was also a Baptist minister. He moved to Bloomington after being the president of the University of Chicago until 1875. He became president of IU in September of that year. He resigned in November of 1884 and he went on trial that same year as indicated in a New York Times article dated December 21, 1884. After this he moved to Bucknell University to become a lecturer in Christian sociology. He died in New York City in 1904.
He was born in Burlington, Kentucky to Demas Moss and Esther Lewis.
