Michael A. McRobbie
Overview
Michael McRobbie was appointed the 18th President of Indiana University on March 1st, 2007. McRobbie has also held the offices of Vice President of Information Technology, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Bloomington Interim Provost. He assumed the responsibilities of President on July 1st, 2007.
McRobbie earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Queensland and a doctorate from the Australian National University. He has done research in parallel computing, computational logic, and symbolic computation among other areas.
In 1987, he was appointed a professor at the Center for Information Science Research at the Australian National University.
In 1992 he became Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Research Centres for Advanced Computational Systems in Canberra, Australia.
In 1997 he came to Indiana University as vice president for information technology, and six years later was named vice president for research. In 2006 he was named provost.
