North Star Food Service
North Star Food Service was a wholesale food distributor located at 311 N. Curry Pike. It employed about 200 people in mostly warehouse and driver positions, supplying multi-unit chain restaurants.
Then known as PYA/Monarch, the company moved into the former Wetterau plant in 1997. In 2000 PYA/Monarch was sold by the Sara Lee Corporation to U.S. Foodservice Corp. and given its new name.
In 2009, U.S. Foodservice closed down the plant, citing the loss of a large contract with a restaurant chain.<ref>"Food distributor closing Bloomington plant; city to lose 200 jobs". Herald-Times. Retrieved on 2009-06-25.</ref>
