Talk:Tao Restaurant
The Tao had a great rice and veggie plate, and a great fruit bowl, and also a nice selection of herbal teas, when such a thing wasn't then widely available- I recall the sassafrass (spelling?) especially- and haven't had anything like it since. It was originally a smaller building than at the location now, and when it expanded it opened a bakery beside it. The Ashram in Bloomington was a nice thing, and gave out free Yoga lessons, I started practicing yoga there about 1978 and still do. I recall seeing their leader Michael Shoemaker often out strolling in town, and somehow the picture of serenity. One of the yoga instructors was Lisa Germano, the fiddle player in Mellancamp's band. One day I went into the Tao and Robbie Benson was sitting there- I never knew why, but it was about the time he did a basketball film. I was sad that the Ashram moved to Boston and the restaurant and bakery were sold. - User:Nancyewilson
