The Brown Sisters
The Brown Sisters are a singing group composed of Lauren, Lilly, and Jenna Brown. Their ages are 20, 17, and 14 (as of 2008). The Brown Sisters started singing in year 2000 when they learned Mmmbop and This Little Light of Mine. They sang on the boardwalk in France and collected 12 dollars in a hat in 10 minutes. They continued to sing together and performed in 2002 with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. Jenna (age 8) sang Adele's Laughing Song from the opera Die Fledermaus and received a standing ovation. Over the years, the Brown Sisters have had two of their own concerts (2004 and 2005) in which they sang a cappella (with their father, Buff Brown), jazz, opera, and more with a 12-piece orchestra. Lauren also performed two original songs in the 2005 concert. Though the girls enjoy singing a cappella music the most, they have branched out and performed with Monica Hertzig at the "Hit It!" Jazz Concert. The girls often volunteer to sing at nursing homes, where the folks love their renditions of Mr. Sandman, Perfidia, Danny Boy, and Embraceable You.
Now Lauren (the eldest) is away at college in Portland, Oregon, so the girls do not sing as often as a trio. However, they are still involved in music with lessons in voice, guitar, drums, and piano, choirs at their respective schools, and an a cappella group at Lauren's college. There is a rumored concert this upcoming summer of 2008, so be on the look out!
