History
WFIU signed on the air in 1950. At that time, WFIU claimed to be Bloomington's first FM station, and also the first to broadcast from Indiana University. The station was student-run until 1971. It began running "All Things Considered" in May 1971, and in 1973 the station became a nearly all-classical music radio station featuring national programs as well as locally produced content. In 2000 WFIU published a history of its first 50 years of operation[1].
WFIU officially went HD in July of 2008 adding a second digital audio channel that plays more talk programs.
