January
- 5th - 10 men gather at a rooming house at 425 E. Kirkwood Avenue and form the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
- Bedford Products Company, a new stone company, is incorporated by G.W. Bollenbacher. The company holds 35 acres of stone land east of Ellettsville. Initial directors are: George Bollenbacher, Carlisle Bollenbacher, Carrol Beck, and James Wampler.
- James H. Smith opens a corn crusher and feed store at the corner of Howe Street and Maple Street.
- Plans are announced for two new buildings on 6th Street. Mefford & Walker plan to replace the Globe Clothing store with a nwe building, while the Henry & Kerr Bakery owners plan a new building to replace the Wonderland Theatre.

The Davis Hardware Company buys the first auto delivery wagon used in Bloomington. It was run by Thomas Baker.

May
May 4th: A gang of whitecappers, apparently including Tobe Snoddy, whips Harvey McFarland. Snoddy later becomes the first man ever convicted of whitecapping in Indiana.

Judge James B. Wilson rules for the city in a case where a building is alleged to be in the right-of-way of 3rd Street. The city had begun to pave the street and filed suit to have a building owned by George P. Campbell at the Walnut Street intersection removed.
December
Willie Hoadley, 13-year-old son of J. W. Hoadley, breaks through the ice while skating at the Monon Lake on the west edge of town. His 12-year-old cousin Paul Hoadley, son of Bert C. Hoadley drowns in the rescue attempt.
